Govt Committed to Making J&K an Educational Powerhouse: LG Manoj Sinha

Srinagar, March 03: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming the region into a premier educational hub, emphasizing strategic reforms and investments in higher education.

Addressing the Legislative Assembly, LG Sinha highlighted the administration’s efforts in upgrading schools with Atal Tinkering Laboratories, fostering innovation, inclusivity, and empowerment among students.

“Our government is prioritizing capacity-building programs for educators to enhance teaching methodologies, ensuring a more effective learning environment in schools,” he stated.

He further emphasized that rigorous measures were being implemented to improve educational institutions, monitor teacher attendance, and enhance overall infrastructure.

Higher Education on the Fast Track

The Lieutenant Governor outlined key advancements in higher education, stating that colleges and universities across J&K are undergoing infrastructural transformations to elevate the quality of learning. In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, digital infrastructure is being integrated into higher education institutions to boost research and development opportunities for students and faculty.

“We are fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, encouraging start-ups among students, and equipping them with the skills to drive growth and self-reliance,” LG Sinha said.

J&K’s Rising Academic Excellence

Jammu and Kashmir is making strides in the higher education sector with significant achievements:
IIT and IIM Jammu are fully operational.
Jammu University has retained its prestigious A++ NAAC grade.
Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) is emerging as a leader in skill development and innovation.
Faculty from the University of Kashmir (KU) have been recognized among the top 2% of global scientists.
Institutions like Cluster University of Jammu and IUST are driving high-end research and securing patents.

Concluding his address, LG Sinha reiterated the government’s vision of making J&K a hub of knowledge, research, and innovation, ensuring that students receive world-class education and opportunities within the Union Territory.
