‘Work on Banihal-Khari Railway Stations Completed’
On Tuesday,05th. Dec 2023, the first electric train trial run from Banihal to Khari station on the 111-kilometer-long Banihal-Katra portion of the Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project in Ramban district was successfully completed.
The first electric train trial run on a 16-kilometer-long track and tunnels between Banihal and Khari stations in Ramban district was watched by a big crowd.
Engineers from Ircon International Limited, who were hired by Northern Railway for the USBRL Project, reported that the 25 KV Railway Electrification (ROCS) work between Banihal and Khari stations had been completed, and that Northern Railway Firozpur division had successfully conducted the first trial run of an electric engine with six coaches.
“The electric train trial run was conducted on the Banihal-Khari sections of the Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project in the Ramban district,” the spokespersons said.
“Electric train trials are being conducted from Railway Station Banihal to Railway Station Khari in the presence of Northern Railway senior officers and engineers, as well as officials from the construction company IRCON.” “On Tuesday, around 4 p.m., the first electric engine train trial with six coaches was conducted,” they said.
They stated that the Banihal-Khari segment of the Ramban district’s Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project was ready for operation.
In Ramban district, construction is also nearing completion on the stations from Khari to Sumber and Sumber to Sangaldan.
According to railway sources, construction on track, platforms, the railway station, and other connected works has been finished in the Ramban district’s Khari, Sumber, and Sangaldan stations.
Electrical work on Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan and exhaust work inside tunnels were believed to be ongoing.
According to officials, construction on living quarters for railway crew as well as other facilities for railway stations in Khari, Sumber, and Sangaldan is nearly complete. “The work on platforms and the laying of railway tracks connecting Sumber and Sangaldan stations in the Rambam district is in progress,” the spokespersons added.
“We are working around the clock to complete pending work on three important stations on the Katra-Banihal track in Ramban district: Khari, Sumber, and Sangaldan.” “We expect Rail to start running on the Katra-Banihal section soon,” they added.
