China and India Reconnect Skies: Direct Flights Resume After Years of Silence

After years of paused connections, China and India are finally reopening their skies. Beginning November 9, China Eastern Airlines will resume its Shanghai–Delhi commercial flights, marking a significant step toward rebuilding ties and facilitating easier travel between the two Asian giants.

This announcement was confirmed through the airline’s online ticket sales platform on Saturday. The move follows India’s foreign ministry statement earlier this month, signaling the long-awaited return of commercial air services between the two neighboring countries — a restart after nearly five years of suspension.

In a parallel development, India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has also declared that it will launch daily non-stop flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou, further strengthening bilateral connectivity and opportunities for travelers, students, and businesses across both nations.

This reconnection symbolizes more than just the resumption of flights — it represents renewed cooperation, revived trust, and revitalized opportunities for both nations’ citizens and industries. It’s a reminder that even after long silences, dialogue and connection always find a way to return.
