A Ukrainian drone strike ignited a fire at the strategically important Azov Sea port of Temryuk, Russian emergency officials confirmed on Friday. The port, a vital hub for liquefied petroleum gas, oil products, petrochemicals, grain, and other essential bulk commodities, became the latest flashpoint in the ongoing conflict.
According to the regional emergencies centre, the situation escalated quickly as the blaze broke out following the drone attack. “There was a fire… Special and emergency services are working on site,” the centre reported through an official statement on Telegram.
Two industry insiders told Reuters that the fire erupted at the Maktren-Nafta LPG transshipment terminal—an important facility responsible for loading LPG from Russian and Kazakh producers destined for export markets. The terminal has processed an estimated 220,000 tons of LPG in just the first ten months of 2025, underscoring its critical economic role.
Meanwhile, Russia’s Defence Ministry said that air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 41 Ukrainian drones overnight, including one over the Krasnodar region, where the port of Temryuk is located.
