Malaysia has voiced deep concern over the escalating tensions in the Middle East following recent military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel on targets in Iran.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia stands firmly in solidarity with all Muslims and communities affected by the violence, especially during the sacred month of Ramadan — a time traditionally devoted to peace, reflection, and unity.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Anwar expressed heartfelt prayers for the safety and well-being of those impacted across the region. He emphasized that Malaysia hopes for an immediate de-escalation of tensions and the restoration of peace, justice, and stability in the Middle East.
The recent attacks reportedly targeted multiple locations in Iran, including the capital city of Tehran, with reports indicating civilian casualties. In response, Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes aimed at Israeli territory as well as US military facilities in the region.
According to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was reported killed during the attacks on Saturday morning. The developments have intensified fears of broader regional instability.
Malaysia’s stance underscores its long-standing position advocating peaceful resolution, diplomatic dialogue, and respect for international law. The Prime Minister’s message resonates particularly during Ramadan, a period that symbolizes compassion, patience, and reconciliation among Muslims worldwide.
At a time when families in the Middle East are observing their fasts under the shadow of conflict, Malaysia’s expression of solidarity serves as a reminder of the shared humanity that transcends borders. Beyond politics and military actions, it is ordinary people — parents, children, elders — who bear the deepest scars of war.
As the situation continues to unfold, Malaysia calls on all parties involved to prioritize restraint, protect civilian lives, and work towards a sustainable and just peace. In moments like these, the world is reminded that stability cannot be achieved through violence, but through dialogue, understanding, and mutual respect.
