In a sweeping security operation ahead of New Year celebrations, Delhi Police have arrested more than 500 people and seized large quantities of illegal weapons and stolen property. The operation, titled “Aaghat 3.0,” focused on dismantling organised crime networks and preventing disturbances during the festive period.
According to a police update shared on social media, preventive action led to the arrest of at least 504 individuals. In addition, around 150 people were detained in connection with the recovery of various items, including 21 pistols, 20 live cartridges, 27 knives, thousands of litres of illicit alcohol, 231 two-wheelers, gambling proceeds, and 310 stolen or missing mobile phones.
The drive also resulted in the arrest of 116 “history-sheeters,” individuals already under police watch due to previous criminal records. Authorities said the intensified effort aims to ensure public safety, maintain law and order, and allow New Year festivities to take place peacefully across the national capital.
Beyond statistics and seizures, the operation reflects a simple human goal — that families can gather without fear, children can celebrate without worry, and people can enter the New Year with a sense of safety and hope. Behind every patrol, checkpoint, and arrest lies the shared desire for quieter streets, safer nights, and a city where celebration does not come with risk.
