After weeks of anxious waiting and uncertainty, flight operations at Srinagar International Airport are finally set to resume today. The welcome news comes after the temporary suspension of services at 32 airports across the country, including Srinagar, due to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
A senior airport official confirmed to Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they have received the official clearance to restart operations. “We’ve been given the green signal. We’re hopeful that by today, everything will be back on track,” the official said with a note of optimism.
The shutdown was part of a larger security measure following India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, a targeted military response to the deadly Pahalgam attack on April 21, which tragically claimed 26 lives. The suspension of flights had left many travelers stranded and families separated, especially those trying to move in and out of the Kashmir Valley.
As the airport prepares to reopen its gates, there’s a renewed sense of normalcy and hope in the air — quite literally. For the people of Kashmir and those with loved ones in the region, the sound of planes landing and taking off will be more than just routine—it will be a symbol of life gradually returning to its rhythm.
