New Delhi – In a heartfelt and urgent move, the Indian government has stepped in to protect its citizens as tensions intensify between Iran and Israel. On Tuesday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that Indian students living in Tehran have been safely relocated from the capital city due to growing security concerns. The evacuation was carried out with direct support from the Indian Embassy in Iran, prioritizing the safety and well-being of the students.
Recognizing the uncertainty on the ground, the Indian Embassy has maintained round-the-clock communication with the Indian community in Tehran. Their aim is clear—ensure every possible assistance reaches those who need it most during this unpredictable time.
“The Embassy has made arrangements to help Indian students move out of Tehran for their safety,” the MEA shared. “We are also advising other Indian nationals who can travel independently to leave the city and move to safer locations.”
Additionally, some Indian nationals have been guided and assisted in crossing into Armenia from Iran, marking another important step taken to ensure their security.
The Indian Embassy took to X (formerly Twitter) to send out a clear message to all Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs): If you can leave Tehran using your own means, do so and head to a safer location outside the city.
Understanding the urgency of the situation, the MEA has activated a 24×7 control room to provide help and updates. This control room is available to address concerns, offer support, and coordinate further action if the situation worsens.
