KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 – Malaysia is opening its doors to a promising partnership with Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC), with a shared vision of building smarter, safer, and more sustainable highways for the future.
Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Malaysia’s Works Minister, expressed his optimism and enthusiasm following a recent working visit to South Korea. He highlighted how deeply inspired he was by KEC’s advanced use of digital construction and smart highway management technologies.
“What I saw in South Korea was truly eye-opening,” said Nanta in a heartfelt Facebook post. “KEC is not just using technology to manage traffic—they are transforming how expressways operate. They’re using artificial intelligence, big data, and integrated traffic systems not just for convenience, but for safety, sustainability, and long-term efficiency.”
Nanta’s visit was in conjunction with the 2025 Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Asia Pacific Forum, where innovation in transport is front and center. The Minister noted how KEC’s experience—managing over 5,000 kilometers of expressways—offers valuable lessons for Malaysia as it shapes its own ITS Roadmap 2030.
He also shared his gratitude to the KEC team, especially Managing Director Lim Chan Soo, for the warm welcome and meaningful exchange of ideas. “It wasn’t just a technical visit; it was a moment of learning, sharing, and building trust,” Nanta said.
With these new ties forming, the Ministry of Works envisions a future where Malaysian highways are not just roads, but intelligent systems—designed to save lives, protect the environment, and connect communities more seamlessly.
“We are excited for what lies ahead. The collaboration with KEC is just the beginning of a journey toward innovation and excellence in our highway infrastructure,” Nanta concluded.
