Srinagar — In a move that has left many travelers anxious and grounded, the Srinagar Airport has suspended all civilian flights for today. The Indian Air Force has confirmed the closure of the airfield, citing ongoing military operations under “Operation Sindoor” — a high-stakes strike on terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC).
Director of Srinagar Airport, Javed Anjum, said, “The airfield is closed and today no civil flights will be operated from Srinagar Airport.”
This announcement has disrupted travel plans for hundreds — families separated, students trying to return home, elderly passengers needing medical attention, and tourists caught off guard. Long lines of confused and worried passengers were seen at airline counters and outside terminals, many trying to rebook or cancel tickets.
Authorities have urged everyone to double-check their flight status directly with their respective airlines before heading to the airport.
While national security remains the top priority, the human impact of such sudden disruptions is deeply felt across the Valley. The hope among citizens is for a swift return to normalcy, safety for all those involved in the operation, and clear communication for future travel plans.
