In a vibrant celebration of athletic spirit and unity, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today felicitated the winners of the Kashmir Marathon 2025 in Srinagar. The prestigious event, organized by the J&K Tourism Department, witnessed overwhelming participation, with 1100 runners from 27 Indian states, union territories, and 11 countries competing in the 42 km Full Marathon and 21 km Half Marathon.
Addressing runners, officials, and sports enthusiasts, the Lieutenant Governor praised the inspiring energy of the participants, calling the event a symbol of collective strength, unity, and passion.
“In just two years, the Kashmir Marathon has grown into one of India’s most prestigious running events,” said the Lieutenant Governor. “This marathon has ignited a wave of fitness, pride, and passion among our youth and is shaping a new generation of athletes. I am confident that this event will continue to grow and become a driving economic force for our tourism sector.”
Reflecting on Jammu & Kashmir’s remarkable progress since 2019, the Lieutenant Governor welcomed international runners, acknowledging the transformational policies under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Jammu & Kashmir is India’s crown jewel — rich in heritage, culture, and natural beauty,” he noted. “We are moving forward with renewed confidence and vigor, harmonizing tradition with modern aspirations.”
He further called on citizens to leverage the marathon as a powerful platform to showcase J&K’s cultural richness, craftsmanship, heritage, and tourist charm on the global stage.
The event was attended by senior officials, including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Additional Chief Secretary Tourism Dr. Ashish Chandra Verma, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, and other dignitaries. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty, along with sports icons and youth, also graced the ceremony.
