Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, during the International Symposium on Peace, People and Possibilities in J&K held at SKICC, Srinagar on Wednesday, highlighted that Jammu & Kashmir’s era of renewed peace and development is rooted in the sacrifices of countless individuals and guided by the timeless wisdom of India’s spiritual heritage. According to him, peace in J&K has blossomed through friendship, compassion, and sincere dialogue.
Speaking to scholars, youth, and community leaders, the LG emphasized that true peace begins when people live with dignity, mutual respect, and open dialogue. He said the theme of the symposium reflects a promising and forward-looking vision for the region. “The voice of Dal Lake and the whisper of the Chinars together will influence peace,” he stated, symbolizing local culture as a guiding force for harmony.
Sinha shared that peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of opportunity—where every person can live without fear, make choices freely, and grow with dignity. He credited ordinary citizens and their resilience for shaping J&K’s new journey, noting that people’s dedication and collective effort have fueled this transformation.
Acknowledging Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the LG said that what seemed impossible for decades has now become a reality—where the echo of violence has given way to the laughter of children and the aspirations of students. Development, he added, can now be seen in roads, schools, and fields that once witnessed unrest.
Calling on citizens to safeguard peace, he urged everyone to honour the sacrifices of the brave soldiers, police personnel, and civilians who laid down their lives. “Peace must be protected by every citizen,” he stressed.
The LG appealed to youth to stay clear of radical ideologies and drugs, adding that elements still echoing Pakistan-sponsored narratives must be identified. He reminded the audience of the unity shown after the Pulwama attack, urging society to preserve that sense of solidarity.
