Srinagar — The Jammu and Kashmir government has confirmed that it is currently reviewing a proposal to enhance the monthly honorarium of Personal Assistants (PAs) working with Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).
This information was disclosed by the Finance Department in a written response to a question raised in the Assembly by Congress MLA Tariq Hameed Karra. The legislator sought clarity on whether PAs attached to MLAs had formally demanded a revision in their honorarium, along with additional benefits such as travelling allowance and daily allowance, comparable to those received by staff associated with other parliamentarians.
Responding to the query, the Finance Department stated that a formal proposal has been forwarded by the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Department. The proposal specifically pertains to revising the monthly honorarium of PAs engaged with MLAs and is presently under active examination by the Finance Department.
However, the government did not outline any specific timeline for a final decision, nor did it provide further details regarding the extent of the proposed increase or additional entitlements under consideration.
