Srinagar, Feb 28: The Jammu and Kashmir government has extended the winter vacation for all schools across Kashmir due to ongoing inclement weather, officials confirmed today.
Education Minister Sakina Itoo announced that schools, initially set to reopen on March 1, 2025, will now resume classes on March 7.
“The extension has been granted in view of the prevailing weather conditions. Schools will reopen after the winter break on March 7,” Minister Itoo stated.
The decision follows a high-level meeting on Thursday, where government officials, including Deputy Commissioners, assessed the impact of recent snowfall and reviewed weather forecasts. Authorities emphasized that student safety remains the top priority in determining the academic calendar.
With this extension, students and parents can expect a more stable transition back to regular classes once weather conditions improve.
