Hungary Stands Ready to Host Peace Talks Between Ukraine and Russia

Budapest, Hungary — In a world yearning for peace, Hungary has once again extended a heartfelt invitation to serve as the host for potential peace talks between Ukraine and Russia. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, in a candid podcast shared on Facebook this Thursday, reaffirmed that Budapest remains open and fully prepared to provide a safe and neutral ground for crucial diplomatic dialogue.

“We have made this offer twice, and it still stands,” said Szijjarto, with a tone of quiet determination. “If we are needed, we’re ready to provide fair and secure conditions for meaningful peace negotiations. We would be honored to contribute to the success of any peace effort.”

The foreign minister’s comments follow recent speculation that Budapest could be the venue for a potential trilateral summit involving U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. According to Politico, the U.S. Secret Service has already begun preparations for such a summit, identifying Budapest as a top contender.

Szijjarto’s message was clear: Hungary is not seeking the spotlight, but is motivated by a genuine desire to support peace in the region.

However, he took a firm stance in addressing false reports circulating in the media. Contrary to stories from Reuters and Bloomberg, Szijjarto denied that Prime Minister Viktor Orban received a call from President Trump regarding Ukraine’s possible EU accession.

“I want to make it clear that there was no such call. There was not. Period,” Szijjarto stated emphatically.

While a White House official confirmed a conversation between Trump and Orban about Ukraine’s EU talks and the possible summit, Szijjarto’s rebuttal seems aimed at clarifying Hungary’s role and avoiding political misrepresentation.

As tensions continue to affect lives and families across Eastern Europe, Hungary’s willingness to act as a neutral facilitator sends a powerful message of peace, hope, and responsibility.
