SINGAPORE, March 19 – India is set to expand its green fuel and digital trade footprint through Singapore’s marine and shipping industry, one of the world’s largest bunkering hubs, supplying over 55 million tonnes of fuel annually to international vessels.
According to trade sources, India and Singapore are exploring a “Green Digital Shipping Corridor” to link global ports and marine industries. Observers believe India’s long-term strategy to export green hydrogen, ammonia, and other green fuels aligns with Singapore’s key role in global maritime trade.
High-Level Visit to Boost Maritime Collaboration
India’s Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, is expected to lead a high-profile delegation to Singapore next week. The visit aims to establish a working programme with Singapore’s maritime industry, focusing on green shipping and port digitisation.
