Srinagar, March 15: Kashmir Valley woke up to a fresh spell of snowfall on Saturday, covering several areas, including the plains, in a pristine white blanket. Meanwhile, other parts of the region experienced light to moderate rainfall, officials confirmed.
The plains of Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, and Pulwama were among the areas receiving fresh snowfall, adding to the winter charm. Popular tourist destinations like Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and Pahalgam also witnessed significant snowfall, attracting visitors eager to experience the winter wonderland.
In the northern parts of the Valley, Gurez in Bandipora district, higher reaches of Kupwara, and several remote mountainous regions saw continuous snowfall, which persisted until the latest reports came in.
Meanwhile, most other areas of Kashmir experienced light to moderate rainfall, bringing a dip in temperatures.
According to the Meteorological Department, intermittent spells of light to moderate rain are expected across most parts of the Valley throughout Saturday. The higher reaches will continue to receive snowfall.
The weather office also predicted brief intermittent spells of rain or snow in various locations through Sunday morning, with conditions expected to improve by the afternoon.
The fresh snowfall and rains have added to the scenic beauty of Kashmir, while authorities remain vigilant for any potential disruptions in daily activities due to changing weather conditions.
