Traffic Diversions Across Klang Valley Ahead of the 47th ASEAN Summit 2025

A total of six major highways and 25 key roads across the Klang Valley will face gradual traffic diversions from October 17 to 29, as Malaysia prepares to host the 47th ASEAN Summit 2025 from October 26 to 28.

According to Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, Director of Bukit Aman’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), the affected highways include the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE), New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), Guthrie Corridor Expressway, North-South Expressway, MEX Highway, and KL-Seremban Expressway.

Key city roads that will experience diversions include Lebuh KLIA, Putrajaya Ring Road, and several prominent routes in central Kuala Lumpur such as Jalan Istana, Jalan Damansara, Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Parlimen, and Jalan Kuching.

To ensure smooth operations throughout the summit, 1,111 traffic officers and personnel will be stationed across critical points for traffic control, VIP escorts, and enforcement duties. A full-scale motorcade rehearsal will also take place from October 18 to 24, covering routes from KLIA’s Bunga Raya Complex and Subang Air Base to major hotels, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, and Seri Negara.

Mohd Yusri advised the public to avoid congested areas and use public transportation such as MRT, LRT, monorail, or buses whenever possible. Those with official duties—like media personnel, healthcare workers, and government officers—will still be granted access with valid passes, though VIP motorcades will take precedence for security reasons.

The 47th ASEAN Summit marks the culmination of Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship under the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability.” High-profile world leaders expected to attend include U.S. President Donald Trump, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

As the nation prepares for this major diplomatic event, the cooperation of the public will play a vital role in ensuring that Malaysia continues to shine as a host of international significance. Let’s all contribute to making the ASEAN Summit 2025 a symbol of unity, order, and pride for our country.
