Malaysia is bracing for the arrival of Tropical Storm Senyar, a rare weather phenomenon detected north of Sumatra and now positioned approximately 102 kilometres southwest of Lumut, Perak. According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the storm is moving southeast at about 24 km/h, heading directly into the Straits of Malacca and towards the western coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
MetMalaysia director-general Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip warned that Senyar may trigger persistent heavy rainfall, strong winds and turbulent sea conditions across several states from today until Saturday.
Updated warnings have been issued for Tropical Storm, Continuous Rainfall, and Strong Wind & Rough Sea Conditions involving the following regions:
Kedah, Penang, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor, effective November 27–29.
A severe-level continuous rainfall warning remains in effect for:
Kedah (Kulim, Bandar Baharu)
Penang
Perak
Terengganu
Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong)
Selangor
Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya
Meanwhile, an alert-level rainfall warning covers:
Kelantan
Pahang (Jerantut, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan, Rompin)
Negeri Sembilan
Melaka
Johor (Tangkak, Segamat)
