Russia Claims Destruction of 90 Ukrainian Drones Overnight, Prompting Airport Closures and Injuries in Tver

Russia’s Ministry of Defence reported on Friday that its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 90 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions of the country and over the Black Sea during an overnight wave of attacks.

In Tver, located about 181 kilometres northwest of Moscow, local officials confirmed that seven people were injured as a result of the strikes and subsequent debris impact. Emergency teams were deployed to stabilize the situation and assess additional damage in the area.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that eight drones heading toward the capital were neutralized before reaching the city. In response to the increasing threat level, Sheremetyevo Airport temporarily halted all departures, citing passenger safety as its top priority.

Russia’s national aviation watchdog also reported that several other airports were briefly closed overnight as a precautionary measure amid ongoing drone activity.

Amid the rising tension and growing uncertainty, the human cost continues to deepen on all sides. Beyond statistics and headlines, every disrupted life and every injured individual is a reminder that conflict reaches far beyond borders. These moments call for renewed attention to humanity, compassion, and the urgent need for stability.
