LRT3 Set to Open by Month-End as Anthony Loke Confirms Launch Date Announcement Soon

After years of anticipation and several delays, Malaysians may finally be able to ride the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) line before the end of this month.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke has confirmed that the much-awaited rail line is fully prepared for passenger operations, with the official launch date expected to be announced within the next two weeks.

Speaking to reporters following the 62nd Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Road Safety Council (MKJR), Loke shared that trial operations have been progressing smoothly and that the system is now ready to serve commuters.

According to him, all major testing phases have been successfully completed, paving the way for the launch of one of the Klang Valley’s most significant public transportation projects in recent years.

The LRT3, also known as the Shah Alam Line, was originally scheduled to begin operations last year. However, the opening was postponed after system stability concerns and software-related issues were identified during the testing and commissioning process. Authorities chose to delay the launch to ensure passenger safety, operational reliability, and a smoother commuting experience once services begin.

Stretching approximately 37.8 kilometers, the LRT3 corridor connects Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya to Johan Setia in Klang. The route is designed to improve public transportation accessibility across western Klang Valley, linking several densely populated residential, commercial, and industrial areas.

The new line is expected to significantly benefit daily commuters traveling through key urban centers such as Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, and Klang. By offering a faster and more efficient alternative to road travel, the project is anticipated to help reduce traffic congestion while enhancing regional connectivity.

For residents and workers in these rapidly developing areas, the opening of LRT3 represents more than just another rail service. It marks a major step forward in Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its public transportation network and support sustainable urban mobility.

As the countdown to launch continues, commuters, businesses, and local communities are eagerly awaiting the official announcement that will signal the beginning of a new chapter in Klang Valley’s transportation landscape.

The successful rollout of LRT3 is expected to improve travel convenience, boost economic activity along the corridor, and provide thousands of Malaysians with a more reliable and connected commuting experience for years to come.
